No front desk, no problem: how KastlePresence® secured a self-service training facility
SixFour3 turned to KastlePresence to give members smartphone-based access tied directly to their own online reservations.
Key highlights
-
No staff required on-site – Members enter and train at SixFour3 without anyone stationed at the building to open doors or check them in.
-
Access tied to each reservation – KastlePresence only grants entry during the exact window a member has booked online, and locks them out automatically once it ends.
-
Hands-free entry by Bluetooth – Members’ phones unlock the door as they approach, with no badge, key, or front-desk staff involved.
-
A safety button built into the app – Members training alone can alert responders directly from the KastlePresence app if something goes wrong.
-
The first indoor sports facility to use KastlePresence – Kastle has installed the same smartphone-based access system in office and apartment buildings since 2015, but SixFour3 marks its first use in a sports and recreation setting.
Our training facility is unmanned and accessible anytime to our members. The ability to manage, audit, and control access is critical to our business.
About SixFour3
SixFour3 is a members-only indoor training facility for baseball and softball players, offering batting cages, pitching lanes, and practice space that members can reserve and use on their own schedule rather than during staffed hours.
The challenge
Because SixFour3 operates without a front desk or staff on-site, the company needed a way to let members in and out of the building on their own, while still knowing exactly who was inside the facility at any given time.
“Our training facility is unmanned and accessible anytime to our members,” said Sean Sullivan, Partner at SixFour3. “The ability to manage, audit, and control access is critical to our business.”
SixFour3 also wanted access tied directly to each member’s reservation, so a member could only enter the building during the specific window they had booked, rather than holding a credential that worked at any hour.
The solution
SixFour3 turned to KastlePresence, which uses the Bluetooth radio already built into a member’s smartphone to unlock the door as they approach, without a badge, key, or anyone stationed at the building. Kastle has deployed the same system in office and apartment buildings in markets including New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, and Chicago since 2015; SixFour3 is the first sports and recreation facility to put it to use.
Access is tied directly to each member’s online reservation, so a credential works only during the window that member has booked, and the KastlePresence app includes a built-in safety button that lets members training alone reach responders directly from their phone.
The outcome
The system lets SixFour3 run its facility without stationing staff on-site, while giving the company a record of who entered the building and when.
“There are so many innovative features that add to the cool factor for our members,” Sullivan said.
