The world's most trusted organizations traded juggling vendors for consistency, predictability, and ROI from one provider.

Key highlights

  • 20+ offices on one standard – before 2010, The Firm’s offices each ran their own security system, with a different vendor and a different set of credentials in every location; today, a single managed program covers them all.
  • One credential for every office – traveling attorneys and staff use a single credential programmed for access across every office in the firm’s portfolio, cutting down on credential distribution and tracking.
  • 24x7 dedicated security team – a team focused exclusively on the firm’s security monitors alarms, propped doors, fire safety issues, and critical systems day and night.
  • Cloud-based video with one login across every office – since roughly 90 percent of theft is internal, The Firm deployed multi-camera systems across its offices, managed from a single login on any device, anywhere in the world.
  • Redundant operating centers for business continuity – multiple backup operating centers keep The Firm’s doors locked and monitored without interruption, even during a catastrophic event.

About The Firm

The Firm is a top global law firm with a diverse client base that includes many of the world’s leading financial institutions and Fortune 500 companies. Its attorneys and staff operate out of more than 20 offices worldwide, with legal professionals traveling frequently between locations.

The challenge

Prior to 2009, each of The Firm’s offices ran its own security system in its own silo, with a different process, a different vendor, and a different set of credentials from one location to the next. As security grew more complicated and more expensive to maintain, and as the firm’s employees traveled more frequently between offices to serve high-profile clients, The Firm went looking for a better way to manage physical security across its entire portfolio.

The solution

In 2010, The Firm partnered with Kastle Systems to standardize its physical security program across every office, combining access control, video surveillance, visitor management, and identity management under one provider handling everything from system design and installation to monitoring, maintenance, and upgrades.

A primary goal was single-credential access to every office, along with standardized security and reporting for that access control. From there, The Firm extended the program to centralized, cloud-based video surveillance accessible from anywhere, a dedicated 24x7 security team, real-time credential administration and reporting, and redundant backup systems to keep its doors locked and monitored even during a major disruption.

The outcome

Today, attorneys and staff move between The Firm’s 20-plus offices using a single credential, while a dedicated security team monitors alarms, doors, and critical systems around the clock. Video surveillance across the portfolio is managed from one login rather than office by office, and real-time reporting lets The Firm update disaster recovery plans, track roll call, and revoke credentials the moment it’s necessary.

Multiple redundant operating centers stand ready so that, even in a catastrophic event, The Firm’s doors stay locked and monitored without interruption.
